FAQ

Buying habanero in Rwanda

Where can I buy habanero peppers in Rwanda?

Cedar Farms grows habanero peppers in Kageyo, Kayonza, Eastern Province, and supplies businesses directly from the farm. Contact our sales team on +250 790 583 164, on WhatsApp, or at cedarfarms.rw@gmail.com with the varieties and volumes you need.

Are habanero peppers available all year in Rwanda?

Yes. Staggered greenhouse plantings give us red habanero and dried whole habanero every month of the year. Yellow habanero is in full season from March to October, with limited volumes from November to February.

Which habanero variety do you grow?

We plant Afadja F1, a certified hybrid habanero seed sold by Holland Greentech, chosen for consistent fruit size, colour and heat. From it we supply fresh red habanero, fresh yellow habanero and dried whole habanero. Red is the most intense; yellow has bright, citrus-like notes; dried whole habanero is shelf-stable and can be used whole, crushed or milled.

How hot are habanero peppers?

Habanero typically measures between 100,000 and 350,000 Scoville heat units, many times hotter than a jalapeño. Behind the heat is a fruity, floral flavour that makes it a favourite for hot sauces and marinades.

How are your habanero peppers packed?

Fresh habanero is packed in single-variety bulk crates of 2, 3, 4 or 5 kg, or in shelf-ready retail prepacks of 500 g, 1 kg or 2 kg. Every crate carries a lot code back to the block, plant date and pick date.

Who do you supply?

Hot sauce manufacturers, spice processors, food manufacturers, restaurants and food service businesses, wholesalers and fresh produce distributors.
